Root canal treatment, also known as endodontic therapy, is a procedure used to treat infected or inflamed dental pulp within a tooth. During the procedure, the diseased pulp is removed. The root canal is cleaned, disinfected, and then sealed with a biocompatible material. This helps to relieve pain, save the natural tooth, and restore its function.
-
Root canal retreatment is a procedure performed to address issues that persist or recur after an initial root canal treatment. It involves reopening the tooth, removing the existing filling materials, cleaning the root canals again, and then resealing them to eliminate any remaining infection or discomfort. This procedure aims to save the tooth and resolve any unresolved dental issues effectively.
-
Root canal microsurgery, also known as apical microsurgery or surgical endodontics, is a specialized procedure performed under high magnification using a dental operating microscope. It is used to treat persistent issues in a tooth that has already undergone root canal treatment but continues to have problems. The procedure involves making a small incision near the tooth to access the root tip, removing any infected tissue or debris, and sealing the end of the root with a biocompatible material. Root canal microsurgery aims to save the tooth by addressing complex anatomy or persistent infections with precision and minimal invasiveness.

Accidents happen. Treatment for traumatic tooth injuries involve addressing damage caused by accidents or injuries to the teeth and surrounding structures. The specific treatment plan depends on the type and severity of the injury, and it aims to preserve the natural tooth structure, restore function, and prevent complications such as infection or tooth loss. Early intervention and proper care are crucial for successful outcomes in traumatic dental injuries.
If a permanent tooth is removed from the socket, do not scrub the tooth and avoid touching the root. Gently rinse with milk or saliva. If tooth can not be placed back into socket, place in container of milk or saliva and visit endodontist as soon as possible (Ideally within 30 minutes).
